Regarding what the US president has to say about France

No, I’m not referring to the recent buzz regarding what the 47th President has to say about France (and about Europe, and about NATO, and about the world and, obviously, about himself). There is too much, firing in so many directions, to even try to keep track of his many deep thought(s).

More humbly, I’m referring to a previous and much more obscure US President, that once said:

Every man has two countries, his own and France. (1)

I doubt any President can compare to mister Donald Trump and this other President even less so, having done so little for his own country, among which one could mention writing an odd little text that begins like this:

In Congress, July 4, 1776
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

But who would dare compare that obscure Thomas Jefferson , the 3rd US President, to the unforgettable 47th one?

Come on my dear USA, isn’t it more than time you wake up? Or is it too late already?


1: The exact quote seems to be less direct than that, but carries the exact same meaning. And btw, even though I’m no US president, heck I even am proud to live in France, I 100% stand by it. France is so much more than just a (once very powerful) Nation, it’s an idea(l) that was shared with the world, no need to be born French to appreciate it and to adopt it. And I can but wonder what it means for America, the now very powerful Nation, and for the American people when the US President spits on the country that was considered by the very founders of the USA an essential source of inspiration? Just wondering.
