Too much to read!

I just had this stupid realization while closing the 20 or 30-odd tabs I had open in my browser for way too long, most of them containing some blog post or an article waiting for me to read it. We (I) have too much to read. Quite the scoop, right? Not really.

The thing that bugged me is to realize from all those waiting-to-be-read-articles I had just closed, I missed… none. Why is that? Why did I consider reading them to begin with if I don’t really miss not reading them?

And it hit me. It’s not that we (I) have too much to read.

It’s that I don’t think most of it is valuable enough for me to actually spend my time reading it. And I say that despite the fact that, I’m pretty confident about this, at least some of those closed tabs contained real good and interesting read.

There were just too little of them somewhere in an endlessly renewed stream of constantly ’new’ content that is not that interesting. Once again, too much to read and too little (of my) time.

Because there is a lot to read. It’s so easy and cheap to publish every single idea one may have (like this very blog post, for example) and then to expect for someone else to actually read it because, well, I don’t know, because it’s one of our idea and we put some actual work turning it into an actual post and we obviously own it for someone to come and to read our work, right?

Wrong.

My time is indeed very valuable, but so is yours my dear (and very hypothetical) reader.

Time is more valuable than anything else as, no matter how powerful and rich one can become, there is no way to get a second more of it when one’s time has come. It’s farewell and so long we will miss you—or maybe not that much, it all depends who you were. But no matter how loved one was, one better leanr to spend wisely whatever time they have left on this planet because there is no second chance.

As far as I was concerned, closing those too many opened tabs, I simply realized I was not that interested in reading all those pages in the hope of maybe finding the one true gem that would make all that work worth it.

So, in the coming days/weeks, I will experiment to see how better I can chose content I really want to read, content that I sincerely think is worth spending my time reading it, or watching it.
